Okay, so I’m just going to take a moment to gush here.

Not about Data (though he is plenty gush-worthy), but about the uniform.  Because this is quite probably my favorite TNG uniform.  (See those seams on the front panel?  Yup, that’s what I’m talkin’ ‘bout.)  It was the first version of the “new” uniform, and only showed up in the very first few episodes of season 3, before they did some more modifications and eventually settled on the elastic-banded, sweatshirt-top thingy we are all familiar with.

What I love about it is that it basically has all the elements of the later uniforms that I love (Nehru collar, not spandex, etc.), but is a lot sleeker.  (It’s possible they were actually onesies, like the season 1-2 uniforms, but I could never tell?  Maybe with the HD releases I will finally be able to solve this mystery?)

No, but seriously.  Go watch “The Ensigns of Command.”  Sleek as fuck.

So…I want fic of O’Brien and Odo bro-ing out.  Because, canonically, they are kind of bros.  Not, like, O’Brien/Bashir level bros, but they totally go kayaking together, and O’Brien got him into reading noir fiction, and attention is never really drawn to it, but they totally have this low-key friendship thing going on.

But think about it.  That first time O’Brien invited him to go kayaking?  Must have thrown Odo for a fucking loop.  And Odo would be suspicious and all, “You do know I turn into a pile of goo, right?” and O’Brien would be all, “So?  At my last job, I reported to an android made by some crackpot cyberneticist,” and he’d just shrug like it’s no big deal and ask how 1500 hours sounded, because Miles O’Brien is STEADY AS FUCK AND NOTHING FAZES HIM with the exception of the occasional Cardie.
